God is opening my eyes to the pains of this world. My hope is that through my writings, you may get a glimpse of what I'm seeing.
In such a beautiful country as Mexico, there are so many kind, genuine people and beautiful landscapes. Yet, it sits here with a backdrop of corrupt politics, a damaged economy, and not much hope for many of the upright standing citizens.
Why was I fortunate enough to grow up in a country where there are unlimited opportunities for success? Almost anyone in poverty in America can rewrite their story with enough dedication and ambition. But that is not the case for many people in a country like this. They remain in their circumstances with no sight of the light at the end of the tunnel.
What could I have possibly done to deserve this? And what could these people have possibly done to deserve their circumstances? There is no simple answer other than that everyone is dealt a different hand.
I’ve realized that by being brought up in a place like America, coming from a loving family with Godly morals, having a college education, and freedom to create my own future, the hand I’ve been dealt is in surplus compared to many other people in the world. Because of this, I want to use my life to give rather than to receive. I do not have a lot of money, but I know who my God is and the second chances He’s given me. That is the most valuable thing I hold that can be shared with others.
Some people just need a second chance. Just a hand. How often do we turn away from people who need us? How often do we withhold our hand from those who need it? How different would the world around us be if once in a while we helped someone out of a pit, knowing that we have once been in a pit of our own?
The greatest thing I’ve learned from my time traveling the world in India, Papua New Guinea, Puerto Rico, America, Nicaragua and Mexico, is that we are all just a different flavor of the same substance. All made in the image of God. All with the same needs of love, joy, peace, and salvation. We look different, we talk different, we believe different things, but we ALL need each other and we all need the grace of our God. Not one person is anymore worthy of living a fulfilling life of human connection and relationship with our Creator than another.
I’m on this journey trying to figure where my part to play in all of this is. I’m searching for something I’m not yet sure I’m looking for. But God is pulling me in a direction and I am following. I hope that anyone who is reading this would position themselves in way that would allow God to do the same. There is a lot of pain on the other side of the world and in your own neighborhood that is easy to turn a blind eye to. But lets start aiming our attention at something more profound in life. Something that really makes us realize our purpose in being alive here on this Earth.
Not one person is here by accident…
I'm so darn proud of you Aiden. God has you on an epic journey for good!
